#Repost @wellettas with @get_repost・・・We had quite the adventure with this one today. I was having my morning coffee and reading posts from a community FB group when one post in particular caught my eye. It was about a white dog with a red collar spotted running loose down my back lane about 45 minutes prior. My stomach dropped to my shoes as I ran to look in our backyard and spotted our side gate wide open and Nora gone. Nora can spend hours outside sometimes quietly stalking birds, squirrels and butterflies, so nothing alerted us that she might be missing until I saw this post. We also generally check that our gates our closed before letting the dogs out, but I guess we missed doing that this morning . I took off running down the lane with my phone, posting to all the local lost dog sites as I ran, simultaneously calling out for Nora. I was frantic. Nora is a scaredy dog, but if she catches a scent or spots a butterfly or something she’s gone! In the meantime @aporius and the kids hopped in the van to go search for her. It took about 45 minutes of solid searching, but we found her (hallelujah! ️) I had gone back to the house to get my bike and as I was leaving again I heard her distinctive bark in the distance. I followed the sound of her barking and located her one street over, clipped to a dog lead in someone’s front yard. I can’t even begin to express how relieved I was to find her in this yard one street over, completely unscathed. The alternative was unfathomable. (Needless to say, my husband has screwed all our backyard gate doors permanently shut for now and the foreseeable future!) So, while this experience is something I’ve dreaded forever and pray never happens again, something kind of good came from it. The people who first spotted Nora and posted about her to our community message board didn’t have to do that, but they did. And It’s because of them I realized Nora was loose and for that I will be forever grateful. The people who spotted me running through our neighbourhood, frantically calling for Nora, the ones who stopped me and asked what was wrong then joined in the search for her, didn’t have to do that but they did!
